PHCA Names Carmy Jerome New Assisted Living and Personal Care Home Director

Jerome brings award-winning experience to role assisting more than 500 care providers

HARRISBURG — Carmy Jerome, a respected senior care executive with award-winning experience as an assisted living residence owner and operator, has been named Assisted Living and Personal Care (AL-PC) Director of the Pennsylvania Health Care Association (PHCA).

“Carmy’s proven track record as a nationally recognized leader in the assisted living industry makes her a valuable resource for assisted living and personal care operators in our state that specializes in providing a caring environment in which residents can age in place,” said W. Russell McDaid, president and CEO of PHCA. “Her unique ability to help facilities find innovative solutions to the challenges they face, and consistently meet a higher level of quality standards, will directly contribute to the quality of life enjoyed by the more than two million residents over the age of 65 in Pennsylvania.”

Jerome’s experience in the long-term and post-acute care sector includes serving as the owner, operator and executive director for Aspen House Memory Care Assisted Living in Loveland, Colorado. While there, she led Aspen House to earn multiple local and industry quality awards — including a “Leaders in Dementia Care” distinction from the Colorado Alzheimer’s Association for five consecutive years, from 2012-2016.

“Pennsylvania is home to a rapidly increasing senior population who is looking for empowering, 21st century care that gives them a greater degree of independence, while also offering the support they need,” said Jerome. “Pennsylvania’s Assisted Living and Personal Care operators provide an excellent quality of life to residents and peace of mind for families who appreciate the full life enjoyed by their loved ones. PHCA is a trusted partner and resource for the sector, and I am excited to work with the membership to help them improve the existing programs they have in place at their facilities and expand the number of quality care options currently available to Pennsylvania residents.”

A widely respected industry leader, Jerome has worked extensively with the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL), the assisted living voice of the American Health Care Association (AHCA), the nation’s largest organization representing long-term care. Her experience with the Washington D.C. based organization includes serving as chairman of NCAL’s Workforce Committee, establishing national guidelines for dementia care and being named 2016 Administrator of the Year.

Jerome is also a Certified Alzheimer’s Caregiver with the Colorado Alzheimer’s Association, a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) and a Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP). She has served as a member of the Colorado Health Care Association and a member of the Northern Colorado Professionals for Seniors Advocacy Organization.
