US Army Employment Readiness/Soldier for Life Transition
Soldier for Life – Transition Assistance Program and Spouse Employment
The U.S. military will transition over 90,000 soldiers per year for the next 3-5 years. Employers can partner to provide a no or low-cost program designed to hire or train soldiers and spouses.
The Soldier for Life – Transition Assistance Program (SFL-TAP) provides transition services to Soldiers, Department of the Army Civilians and Family members who transition from active duty. By law, soldiers must participate in SFL-TAP after completing at least 180 days of continuous active duty service.
The SFL-TAP resources help Soldiers transition from military service to civilian life. Connecting Soldiers to civilian employment is good for a company’s bottom line, and also for Soldiers, who can leave active duty with a sense of pride and truly become a Soldier for Life.
