EIW sessions offer continuing education opportunities for educators, specifically career counselors and teachers, to stay abreast of workplace needs. These three-hour sessions are held at employer sites and provide employers the opportunity to share the career opportunities they offer along with the knowledge, skill and education requirements to be successful in those careers. Sessions are usually coordinated by an intermediary such as the Capital Region Partnership for Career Development or local Chamber Business and Education Partnership committees. In addition to providing career information, the host employer also provides dinner and usually a tour of the employer facility. The education participants earn three Act-48 credits. EIW sessions often serve as the introduction to broader educator and employer partnerships leading to job shadow, coop and internship opportunities for students and future employees for employers.
