The webinar will provide an insight into Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and other laws regarding workplace harassment, hostile work environment, and bullying. We will discuss personal protected characteristics and the importance of respecting our differences in beliefs and perceptions.
Attendees will learn to identify unwelcome behaviors and understand their responsibilities in helping to eliminate harassment in the workplace. We will walk through three legal examples of a hostile work environment and discuss why these were considered a “hostile” environment. Examples of various objects, jokes, or physical touching will help employees determine whether they are acceptable or unacceptable in the workplace.
The webinar will also provide information on workplace bullying, which is currently on the rise. We will discuss the new Healthy Workplace Bill which was introduced in 30 states and 2 territories, and talk about how employers can prepare in the event the bill is passed into law.
We will examine the effects of harassment on the employee and the employer and review their roles and responsibilities. Lastly, we review four real-life scenarios that will help both the employee and employer handle similar situations in their workplace. We wrap up with a five question true and false examination.
