The Alzheimer’s Association will highlight our newly released Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice Recommendations that outline quality care practices based on a comprehensive review of current evidence, best practices and expert opinions designed for professional care providers. These recommendations will inform and influence dementia care standards, training, practice and policy from a person-centered focus. We will also help decipher and understand dementia-related behaviors and determine how best to respond through non pharmacological approaches to care.
Learning Objectives:
- By the end of this presentation attendees will understand the importance of evidence-based recommendations for health care professionals across the continuum of long-term services and supports for people with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
- List the 4 step process for intervention in addressing dementia related behaviors.
- List the five most common behaviors encountered for those providing direct care for those with ADRD.
Presenter: Jill Curtis, Education and Outreach Coordinator with the Greater PA Chapter Alzheimer’s Association and Kellie Butsack, Associate Director of Programs with the Delaware Valley Chapter Alzheimer’s Association.
