Falls are a significant risk to the elderly population; there are many negative consequences of falls. It takes a team approach to implement a comprehensive falls management program. Cognitive impairment and low vision are two major conditions that result in a higher incidence of falls. This course will present a proactive approach in fall prevention by focusing on how to accurately identify and assess these two common conditions and providing specific strategies for implementation of a successful falls management program.

- Recognize major components contributing to fall risk in the elderly population.
- Describe the roles of the interdisciplinary team (IDT) with the implementation of a comprehensive falls management program.
- Attendees will be able to articulate specific fall prevention strategies for elderly clients displaying cognitive and vision impairments.
