In this webinar, we will describe the new 70% Accountability Requirement that results from the Medicaid nursing home funding increase in the 2022-2023 state budget. Specifically, this requirement, which applies to full 12-month cost reports with reporting periods beginning on or after January 1, 2023, provides that nursing home providers must demonstrate that 70% of their total costs are for resident care and other resident-related costs as listed on the MA-11 Medicaid Cost Report. We will discuss the calculations including the specific references to the MA-11 Cost Report including Schedules A, B, and C. We also will provide sample calculations. In addition, we will discuss the penalties for not meeting the 70% threshold, as well as strategies to consider in order to meet the requirement.
