This webinar will be presented by Tim Ward, Director of Advocacy and Government Relations at PHCA.
As we attempt to navigate through the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has transformed nearly every aspect of long-term care in Pennsylvania, the advocacy efforts of our industry will be critical in the fight for a more favorable operating environment for providers and frontline caregivers.
Over the past two years, PHCA has worked to change the narrative surrounding long-term care in both Harrisburg and Washington, D.C. Our successes, including the enactment of key legislative priorities and funding achievements, has been a testament to our robust grassroots advocacy.
In 2022, we’re focused on enacting long-lasting, sustainable reforms to address the systemic issues plaguing our sector, including securing an investment in Medicaid rates, tackling price-gouging from staffing agencies, rebuilding the long-term care workforce, and exploring Medicaid authorization for assisted living. Throughout the next few months, our efforts will be focused in Harrisburg and Washington, D.C., as we advocate for these priorities and more.
This webinar will walk you through the advocacy process and how to best share our messages of support with your local legislators. In these unique times, we will focus on how to effectively execute both a digital and in-person advocacy strategy by highlighting different tools at your disposal. You’ll also learn about the specific issues that we will be focused on throughout the year. No matter what we’re asking of the legislature, it is critical that we have well-established relationships to convey our message.
Your learning objectives will include:
- Learn how to deliver talking points to legislators,
- Discuss relevant legislation and potential legislative impact on LTC,
- A preview of the 2022 Midterm Elections,
- Review legislative priorities,
- Develop relationship-building strategies,
- Build advocacy plans and events.
