At PHCA, we pride ourselves on our reputation as the commonwealth’s leading advocacy association, representing Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable residents and their providers of care. We’re seeking a Communications Coordinator to serve a key role in implementing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to support member engagement, member growth and retention efforts and the strategic priorities of the association.

This newly created position will be responsible for supporting the association’s communications and engagement efforts including day-to-day management of social platforms, supporting content creation needs, supporting membership and business partner engagement and activity, developing outreach email campaigns, and analyzing the effectiveness of the overall engagement efforts.

The ideal candidate will have some experience with, or an interest in, a wide range of marketing and communications functions, including events, media relations, digital marketing, website management, and social media. Our communications coordinator must be an organized, efficient, quick learner who is motivated to contribute to the success of PHCA and its membership while handling several projects at once and getting exposure to (and learning about!) various communications channels. 

The individual in this position will report to and work closely with the Director of Communications under the direction of the Vice President, Strategy to advance PHCA’s reputation as the leading advocacy association for Pennsylvania’s vulnerable older residents and their providers of care on the front lines in our nursing homes, assisted living communities and personal care homes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven experience as marketing communications intern or similar role
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize, multi-task, and meet expected deadlines
  • Phenomenal communication and copywriting skills
  • Entrepreneurial mentality and willingness to learn
  • Solution-oriented and the ability to manage self
  • Sense of humor, ability to work well under pressure and ability to think outside the box
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a results-driven environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of email marketing platforms and social media platforms a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree, marketing or communications concentration preferred
  • Proficient in graphics creation using Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, InDesign, Acrobat/PDF
